This Awesome Japanese Grocery Store Comes to the East Bay

Emeryville's Bay Street Plaza is set to get even better with the opening of a new location for the popular Japanese grocery store brand Tokyo Central.

Tokyo Central will be opening a new 40,000 square-foot location at Bay Street Plaze, the company announced in a press release. This will be the chain's second Bay Area location and the first in the East Bay. Their other location is in Cupertino.

Tokyo Central specializes in imported Japanese foods, snacks, and cosmetics. Like other grocery stores, there's the ability to grab readymade food or pick up a beverage. For patrons of Tokyo Central's Los Angeles stores, they'll be familiar with the stellar sushi that's available. It's likely this will also become a fixture of the Emeryville location.

This move marks the continued development of Bay Street Emeryville, a remarkable outdoor mall in a central location between Oakland, San Francisco, and Berkeley. Bay Street is one of the Bay Area's best shopping districts that rivals the best that San Francisco or other major cities can offer.

There's plenty to do at Bay Street, from grabbing a bite a Pippal, a delicious Indian restaurant, or going shopping at the Nike Store, Uniqlo, or one of the many boutiques along the open-air mall.

At this point there are no details on the opening date, so keep an eye out for further announcements as Bay Street gets a new location to its ever-expanding list of places to shop.
