Air Shows & Tand Ship Exhibitions
A highlight of Fleet Week is undoubtedly the air shows, which will take place throughout the week, featuring top-tier aerial performances by teams like the Blue Angels, Leap Frogs, and Air Force demonstration teams. The Blue Angels, the Navy’s elite flight demonstration squadron, are renowned for their precision flying and daring maneuvers that will leave audiences breathless as they perform over the San Francisco Bay.
These air shows are a must-see, whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or simply someone looking for a spectacle. There are great viewing points throughout the city, with many flocking to areas like Crissy Field, Aquatic Park, and Marina Green to get an unobstructed view of the skies.
Friday, October 11, marks the start of the event with the grand Parade of Ships at 11:00 AM. This signature spectacle showcases the ships of Fleet Week as they sail under the Golden Gate Bridge and line up along the San Francisco waterfront. The parade features a range of Navy vessels, each playing a crucial role in maritime operations. The San Francisco Fire Department will kick things off, leading the way with their fire boat spraying jets of water high into the air as a salute to the arriving fleet.
The ships can be seen from key points along the waterfront, from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge, with the Marina Green serving as the best spot for viewing and learning about the different types of vessels.
